70 – og andre begyndelser / 70 – and other beginnings
Text by Peter Hesk Møller & Poul Sabroe

Turning 70 is great, if sculptor Peter Hesk is to be believed.
To mark the milestone on 31 March 2022, he is publishing his latest book: '70 - and other beginnings'. The mantra is unmistakable: Life is great - age is cancelled!
The book presents current monumental works by the artist, but it is also a photographic time travel into the anatomy of beginnings, and the graphically elegant expeditions are dressed up by free language in the form of texts'. The point of the book is given voice here: no ending without a beginning. And even the last exit may not be the last after all?
In recent years, the bronze artist Peter Hesk has extended his talent to other materials: brick and wood.
The book design is tight, with a grid system that controls image placement and size, and an overly large page count that ties the photographs together dynamically on the pages. Both grid and page count are seen naked on page 1. Everything is told in nine chapters, each with its own beginning: the sunrise from the artist's home in Nykøbing Sj.
There is no ending here. Only a new beginning.
